SIBU: The Sarawak Federation of Women’s Institutes (PPWS) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that has gained the trust of women in the country, especially in the rural areas.

It now has 14,488 members in 20 districts and 395 branches throughout Sarawak.

PPWS of Sibu/Sarikei/Kapit chairperson, Ummu Hani Junaidi disclosed this when officiating the PPWS Day celebration and Mother’s Day 2017 held at a hotel here recently.

Hani was also proud that the  PPWS’ anniversary had been included in the  Sarawak Government Almanac.

“This is a recognition by the state government and the pride of all women, especially all members of PPWS throughout the state.

“Therefore, as a leading women NGO  in Sarawak, I am very proud of the achievement of PPWS which has become known internationally,” she said.

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Councillor, Zaiton Abdul Kader, PPWS Sibu chairperson, Maimunah Yusuf, and PPWS of Sibu/Sarikei/Kapit/Mukah exco member, Datin Mary Masing were among those present at the event.
