KUCHING: Understanding the meaning of integrity is not enough; it must be fully practiced, according to Jack Liam, the controller of environmental quality at NREB (Natural Resources and Environment Board).

He pledged NREB’s continued commitment to fostering integrity as a culture within the organisation.
Jack referenced a quote from an English writer, stating, “Integrity without knowledge is weak and useless, and knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful.”

He was speaking at the NREB Integrity Day held at The Waterfront Hotel here on today (Sept 15).

He also highlighted the significance of NREB’s Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) 2021-2025, which aims to fully address malpractice and corruption.

“The mid-term revised version of the OACP has been completed, with improvements made to make it more comprehensive, focused, and measurable in terms of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).”

Jack added that NREB always ensures that integrity practices are at the core of its financial management. “I am pleased to announce that the National Audit Department has issued a clean certificate to NREB for its financial statement ending on Dec 31, 2022.”
