One biker dies, two injured in crashes

The scene of the accident that claimed the life of a 27-year-old man and injured two other riders.

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 27-year-old man died while two others suffered injuries in a three-motorcycle accident along KM11, Jalan Kota Samarahan-Asajaya today (Nov 21).

The incident happened around 7am when the victim, identified as Mohd Haffiza Sabli, was riding his motorcycle alone towards Asajaya.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the case, said the victim suddenly entered the opposite lane and collided with another motorcycle ridden by a 36-year-old man which was heading towards Kota Samarahan.

 After the collision, another 27-year-old motorcyclist who was  heading towards Kota Samarahan tried to avoid the two other motorcycles on the road  but  fell due to the debris.

“Due to the crash, Haffiza was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His  body was taken to the hospital for further action,” said Alexson.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old rider suffered severe injuries while the other biker suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to the Sarawak Heart Centre for treatment.

Alexson said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
