KUCHING: KPJ Sibu Specialist Medical Centre will mobilise a mobile vaccination team as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) project to give vaccinations at selected locations outside of KPJ Sibu’s premises.

Head of KPJ Sibu Private Hospital Vaccination Center (PPVHS) Dr Wong Chya Wei stated that the program will be on weekends only, particularly Saturday and Sunday and will begin on July 10 at Medan Hotel.

“We are targeting 2,000 vaccinees to benefit from the two-day programme and we also will ensure that no one is left out,” he said when contacted by members of the Sibu District Information Department (JaPen).

He added that the programme is fully supported by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) in collaboration with the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Sibu.

He said the vaccine recipients at the PPVHS were chosen from the MySejahtera registration list in Sibu, and the vaccine they would receive is Sinovac.

Wong, who is also an orthopaedic consultant at KPJ Sibu, said the immunisation process went very smoothly with help from KPJ Sibu frontline staff as well as volunteers.

“We only vaccinated 100 people each day during the first three weeks of operation at PPVHS KPJ Sibu, but we are now targeting 400 per day,” he said.

“Our CSR project will continue next week at the Li Hua Hotel on Li Island, which is the second location after the Medan Hotel,” he said.

Apart from PPVHS Rejang Medical Center in Dewan Suarah Sibu, the PPVHS KPJ Sibu is one of the private hospital vaccination centres in Sibu division.
