‘Ops Dadu’ raid nets seven

BAU: Seven men were nabbed in a house at Kampung Belimbing, Krokong last Sunday (Oct 4) in an operations against illegal gambling.  

District police chief, DSP Poge Nyaon said in a statement that a team from the Bau Crime Investigation Division (CID) carried out the ‘Ops Dadu’ raid around 12.30am.

On arrival, the team found seven men sitting around a table playing ‘Holo’, an illegal gambling game.

“All of them, aged 35 to 78, were then arrested for being involved in the illegal activity.

“The raid team also seized a ‘Holo Kong’ unit, dices, a table cloth, cash, chairs and a table,” added Poge.

The items used for gambling seized by the Bau CID team.

He said all the gamblers and seized items were taken to Bau district police headquarters (IPD) for further actions.

Further checks found that the men did not have any criminal record.

Poge said they had had violated the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under Regulation 10 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No 8) Regulations 2020.

The case is being investigated under Section 7 (2) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953. If convicted, each offender can be fined not more than RM2,000.
