MIRI: Many local shoppers have started to fill some major malls here following some relaxation of the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

Since the middle of May, many businesses including shopping malls here have reopened but with strict standard operating procedures (SOP) as precautions to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Observations made on Friday found locals beginning to throng the city’s shopping malls, but with face masks on and their body temperatures checked by security guards.

People who failed to comply with the SOP were not allowed to enter the malls.

Lately, Malaysia seems to be winning the war against Covid-19 following the imposition of restrictions on people’s movements since March 18.

A trader in a shopping mall, who wished to be known as just Chin, said he was excited to start business after being idle for the past three months.

“The business is picking up, but slowly,” he said.

On the CMCO, he said the body temperature of every customer would be checked before entering his premises.
