Permitted sectors, industries to operate from 6am- 8pm

KUCHING: During the statewide movement control order (MCO) from May 29 to June 11, permitted sectors and industries are only allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm.

According to the MCO standard operating procedure (SOP) issued by the National Security Council (MKN) on Friday (May 28), essential services are allowed to operate during the MCO.

These include supermarkets (section with essential items and food only); public markets, wet markets, and wholesale markets; hardware stores; electric and electronics sector; healthcare sector; pet food; automotive sales, maintenance, and repairs; health and safety; packaging and printing; and agricultural products.

Also permitted to operate are restaurants, bistros, cafés, and food and beverage outlets. However, dine-in or park-and-dine is not allowed; only takeaways, drive-throughs, and deliveries are allowed.

Premises owners are to restrict the number of customers in their premises with a physical distance of 1m radius.

The maximum number of customers, as approved by the local authorities, should also be displayed. The use of a turn number system is encouraged.

Other permitted operations include prisons, temporary detention centres, and immigration depots; electrical and energy services; government services; port and airport services; fuel services; telecommunication services; water services; broadcasting and information services; judicial and legislative services; and banking and financial services.

Also allowed are post, courier, and logistic services; factory and manufacturing industries; ship construction and repair sector; timber and logging sector; fishing, agriculture, and plantation sectors; land, sea, and air services (including e-hailing and food deliveries); construction and renovation sector; hotels and accommodations; solids and sewer management; and industries relating to safety and defence.

With regard to employee capacity, there is a limit of 20 percent attendance for the public sector (excluding frontliners), with 80 percent to work from home.

As for the private sector, employee attendance is restricted to 30 percent at any one time.
