PUSA: The strange behaviour of a pet cat named Didi alerted its family of the presence of a cobra hiding in the kitchen of their house.
Around midday yesterday, the family in Kampung Tengah experienced a commotion caused by the snake.
According to the residents, they only realised there was a snake in the house after seeing Didi’s strange behaviour.
“We were puzzled after seeing Didi repeatedly checking on the side of the kitchen walls.
“It’s as if Didi was trying to tell me something and after a while, I decided to see what was actually going on in there.
“I was shocked to see a cobra devouring a rat, hiding between the walls,” one of the residents said, yesterday.
The residents immediately asked for help from their neighbours to get rid of the snake.
“Because it’s a wild animal, capable of killing us, I had to ask a lot of people for help.
“A lot of people came over to help and at one moment, the snake managed to escape under the staircase where it hid for a while.
“However, after two hours, we managed to get rid of the snake by putting a rope around its head. The snake was disposed of in the nearby river,” he said.
The residents said this was the fifth time a snake had invaded their house ― in the past, it had always been pythons.
They expressed relief knowing that their favourite cat was not harmed by the snake.
