Pipeline repairs expected to finish tomorrow

MIRI: Repair teams are working round the clock to complete remedial work on a broken pipeline which disrupted water supply by noon Sunday (June 19).

Affected residents waiting for turns to get the water supply from a fire engine.

Water tankers have been deployed to numerous collection points in the city to distribute water to people since about 2.30am on Thursday (June 16).

Repairs commenced as soon as the pipeline was emptied at 5am on that day of incident at Mile 7 Jalan Miri-Bintulu.

Unfortunately, a thunderstorm at 2.45pm on June 17 (Friday) interrupted works.

In a statement LAKU Management Sdn Bhd said piling works were going in the effort to fix the broken pipeline.

It is also collaborating with other relevant agencies to resolve the issue urgently.  

“We sincerely regret any inconveniences caused,” it said.

Meanwhile water collection points during the intervening period are as follows :

Lambir Water Treatment Plant; Miri Sentral (near SL Supermarket) ; Miri Hospital ; Airport Commercial Centre (opposite Miri Airport) ; Milea Residence Eastwood Industries(near Dapur Nasi Kukus Pae’ya) ; Permyjaya Commercial Centre (Desa Pujut 1) ; Ah Hong Tudan ; Permyjaya (Desa Pujut 2); Near Jumbo Seafood Restaurant; New World Maet Car park; Taman Bulatan ; Indoor Stadium compound and Masjid Darul Eshan Poasau.
