MIRI: An unemployed man was arrested after his activity of downloading pornographic films was exposed on Monday (Sept 21).

He was also found possessing DVDs and VCDs of child pornography.  

District deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol told that the man who is married, was arrested by Miri Crime Investigation Division (CID) in his home at Jalan Koniffer, Taman Sin Siang Hai around 3.30pm

The 62-year-old man was at home during the raid and inspections were made by the police team.

“It led to the seizure of several case items on suspicion of accessing, possessing pictures and child pornography videos comprising a computer unit, a headphone, two modems, a phone and several pornographic films in the form of digital version, DVDs and VCDs,” he said in a statement.

It is believed that the man was involved in distributing and selling the DVDs and VCDs around the city.

Sabri stated that both the arrest and seizures were taken to the central police station for further actions.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017.
