KUCHING: Port workers have been called to register as members of the Kuching Port Authority Employees Union (KPAEU).

In making this call, Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said that those who have yet to join the union as members can register as members immediately.

“The existence of this union makes the workers more enthusiastic in meeting the various challenges and problems at work that they face from time to time,” he said.

He said this during the union’s 56th anniversary dinner at Penview Convention Centre, Demak Laut here yesterday.

Later at the event, the union also received an allocation of RM20,000 from Dr Hazland.

Dr Hazland said that the donation was given as additional funds for the union to carry out its activities.

“With this contribution, the union can plan various activities appropriately in line with the government’s current and future agenda,” he said.
