KUCHING: The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) has been told to continue to work on its integrity.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said STIDC’s expanded use of online services not only helps it to increase productivity but also provide services with transparency and integrity.

As such he urged it to have a firm grasp of integrity, a value that should always be practised by every individual in the organisation.

“This would enhance the confidence of the industry and other stakeholders towards the roles of STIDC in spearheading Sarawak’s timber industry,” explained Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development and Minister of Urban Development and Resources II.

He said this at the Pusaka Integrity Day 2019 celebration at Wisma Sumber Alam here yesterday.

“Therefore, in order to ensure that STIDC will continue to excel and effectively perform its duties and responsibilities, the board of management has established several committees,” he said.

According to him, these committees included the project monitoring committee, investment committee, land committee, finance committee, and audit and risk management committee.

“These committees aim to monitor the performance and effectiveness of STIDC’s management in handling the organisation with utmost integrity in order to achieve our mission to become an excellent civil service institution of Sarawak,” Awang Tengah stated.

The STIDC board of management chairman also urged officers at all levels to maintain the shared values of Sarawak’s civil service – integrity, professionalism, sense of urgency, kind and caring, result-oriented and teamwork.

He commended STIDC’s initiative in organising the Integrity Day 2019 celebration in support of the state government’s efforts towards building a workforce that promotes a high level of integrity, work ethic, and innovation.

“Just recently, STIDC Kumpulan Inovatif & Kreatif (KIK) — The Hummer was chosen to represent Malaysia at the International Convention Quality Control Circle (ICQCC) in Japan, winning the gold award this past September. Congratulations!” he said.

He encouraged STIDC members to always be prepared to face challenges in order to uphold the good image of STIDC as an agency with high integrity in line with the theme of this year’s celebration — ‘Budaya Integriti Teras Kecemerlangan Pusaka’.
