MIRI: Work to improve the traffic flows at Jalan Piasau/Jalan Cattleya 5 intersection is expected to be completed within these two weeks.
The RM48,000 project implemented by Miri City Council (MCC), which started on Tuesday (April 27), consists of two parts.
“The first work scope involves the widening of the road for U-turns at the traffic lights at Jalan Piasau/Jalan Pantai and the closure of the junction for road users coming from Pulau Melayu towards Jalan Cattleya,” explained Miri Mayor Adam Yii when met at the site today (April 28).
He hoped the project, when completed, would be able to reduce congestion and improve traffic safety.
“This area has been a traffic bottleneck in the morning as we have a lot of vehicles here. That is why we came up with this idea,” said Yii.
Present during the site visit were the council’s secretary Morshidi Fredrick and the council’s chief engineer Abdul Rahman.
