BETONG: The outgoing District Information officer who is posted to her hometown in Marudi admits that she will miss the pufferfish cuisine that is popular in this district.
Siti Mariam Mahdar who has served as the Information officer here for 10 months, described her stint as a very valuable period.
“Serving in the Betong District is a valuable experience because the field assignments require approaching the community in conveying various information.
“Besides, being able to enjoy a variety of foods and I’m very fond of salted puffer fish.
“I rarely find it anywhere else and when I live in Betong, I often relish the deliciousness of the puffer fish,” she said during a farewell event attended by staff of the Betong District Information Department.
Siti explained that while in Betong, she had the opportunity to meet the community in conveying the government’s policies and initiatives to longhouses, villages and various other areas.
“This creates a friendly relationship, which in turn makes me, the staff and the people of Betong like a family, which is easy to share and exchange views,” she said.
