MIRI: The 12th Battalion of Miri General Operations Force (GOF) seized about RM381, 112 worth of diesel and petrol (without storage licence) from a stock room at Mile 8, Jalan Bintulu-Miri on Thursday.

The seizure was made during an operation dubbed ‘Ops Libas’ around 11.20am.

According to GOF Miri 12th Battalion commanding officer Supt Tan Hiap Seng, the team also detained three individuals including the stock room’s caretaker for questioning.

He said the seizure comprised 9,400 litres of diesel, 1,700 litres of petrol, nine plastic water jerry cans and several mechanical pumps.

“A lorry tanker containing 16,000 litres of diesel was also impounded,” he said when contacted.

The seized items would be handed over to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) Bintulu branch.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for unlawful possession of controlled articles, which carries a fine not more than RM1 million or up to three years’ imprisonment.
