PADAWAN: Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil recently
conducted a working visit to inspect the landslide site at SK Puruh Karu here.
He assessed the condition of the school that was affected by the landslide incident and discussed the best methods to ensure the safety of the students.
Following the visit to the school, he said SK Puruh Karu is deemed unsafe for learning sessions as declared by the Public Works Department (JKR).
Therefore, he proposed relocating 73 affected students to the church’s parish hall of Kampung Emperoh Karu temporarily while awaiting the completion of SK Taba Sait, where they will continue their schooling sessions there.
He added that the relocation is expected to commence no later than the beginning of the 2024 school session.
Dr Jerip, who is also Mambong assemblyman stressed his commitment in requesting for allocation under Projek Rakyat for the construction of a new SK Puruh Karu with an estimated cost of RM80 million.
According to him, SK Puruh Karu needs to be relocated to a proposed new site near the Padawan Sub-District Office and Braang Bayur Health Clinic.
“A special meeting will be convened to discuss this matter in more detail with the relevant agencies,” he added.
