KUCHING: You can now sanitise your own house with guidelines prepared by the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

Its director Khirudin Drahman said that the public could easily sanitise their homes with simple everyday use items.

“These guidelines for self sanitisation will be posted on our social media pages like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even on our website.

“The sanitisation work that we have carried out throughout the state is for public areas only. The cleaning and inspection period for our department will be until June 9,” he added during a press conference in his office at the Sarawak Bomba headquarters at Jalan Setia Raja.

Khirudin said for the kindergartens and nurseries, Bomba would teach the teachers on the correct sanitising methods during ‘Training for Trainers’ (TOT) programme until June 9.

For schools and higher education institutions, Khirudin said the department would discuss the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines with the Education Ministry (MoE) on the suitable sanitisation methods and might focus on those in the red and yellow zones.

“Our personnel will work together to provide reasonable assistance to any parties that need help as our main purpose is to break the virus’ transmission.

“The government and agencies involved have done their best to curb the spread of the virus and flatten the curve, and now it is up to the public to do their best,” he said. Emphasising on #KitaJagaKita.

He pointed out that the department was prepared to provide good services to the public even before the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) on March 18.

“In February, we received instructions from the headquarters in Peninsula to execute a plan on how to handle the situation during the MCO period,” he said, adding that the Sarawak Bomba operations centre had prepared a plan for its personnel.

Khirudin thanked the state government, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), local authorities as well as other agencies for the comprehensive actions in handling the crisis.
