KUCHING: The Sarawak Bumiputera Consulting Engineers Association is planning to establish a centre of excellence in Sarawak.

Its chairman Irwan Zulkarnain Muhammad Hasbie explained that the centre would be a place to train members to improve their services.

“We want to establish a centre where there will be workshop courses related to engineering and technical courses.”

He said this when met by the media after a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on yesterday (April 11).

In addition, he stated that the centre would also have a variety of software equipment for its members to use to carry out engineering services.

“The centre is needed for us to place a variety of software equipment that our members may not be able to afford.

“We will use a sharing system where they will use the software at a low rate, for them to carry out engineering services.”

Irwan also explained that the courtesy visit was held to introduce the new committee of the association.
