SEBUYAU: The initiative of organising the Sarawak Education Expo in all districts is able to prevent the issue of students dropping out due to lack of information about offers to further their studies from Institutions of Higher Education (HEIs) in the state.

Utilities and Telecommunications Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi said, this is because many Sarawakian children who are far outside the city and in the interior have suitable qualifications to continue their studies to a higher level.

“The Sarawak Foundation’s initiative to organise educational promotion programmes in all districts in Sarawak is an effort to ensure that all students, especially holders of the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) and Higher Certificate of Education Malaysia (STPM) get the latest information on the educational opportunities available in the state,” he said.

The Sebuyau state assemblyman said this when speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Sebuyau District Sarawak Education Expo Programme here, today.

Commenting further, Julaihi said that in building a suitable career, exposure to the opportunities available especially in educational institutions in Sarawak is an important core for students.

This is due to the existence of a clear direction through discussion and guidance sessions with representatives of institutions who are willing to sacrifice their time being here is an opportunity that should be used as best as possible by students, he said.

“Because of that, this expo can be a platform for us to obtain the latest information about the courses and fields of study offered through the involvement of the institutions concerned.

At the same time, the presence of Yayasan Sarawak at this expo also allows students to get information about the sponsorship provided by them to help those who need help financially,” explained Julaihi.
