KUCHING: Sarawak recorded one new positive locally transmitted case in Kuching on Tuesday (Nov 24).

This brings the total case tally to 1,056 after three consecutive days of zero case, said State Disaster Management Committee in its daily statement today.

Case 1056 involved a local woman working as a sales agent at a shopping mall here.

“She underwent a screening test on Nov 23 at a private hospital after experiencing cough, fever, nausea and anosmia and tested positive on the same day.

“It was found that she had been experiencing the symptoms since Nov. She had no travel history to highly infected risk areas and did not make any close contact with positive Covid-19 patients.

“The case has been admitted in Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment,” said the committee, adding that active contact tracing of the case was being carried out.

There were 10 new recovery and discharged cases — eight from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and two from  Miri Hospital — bringing the total recovery cases in the state to 992 or 93.94 percent.
