Sarikei fire causes 70 pct damage to residence

FIRE incident in Sarikei draws lots of onlookers.

SARIKEI: The Sarikei Fire and Rescue Services Station (BBP Sarikei) received a distress call informing a fire incident at 10.01am yesterday, said a press release from ‘Pusat Gerakan Operasi Negeri Sarawak’ yesterday.

It was stated that a residence at Taman Century, Jalan Masjid Baru, Sarikei, was on fire. Upon receiving the call BBP Sarikei speedily rushed its asset and personnel as follows.

One LFRT fire engine manned by five personnel led by PBK II Haron bin Jenai and another EMRS fire engine with three personnel were rushed to the scene. Al so given help was BBP Bintangor which sent one LFRT fire engine manned by five personnel led by PB Aiman.

Commanding the operation was PBKII Haron bin Jenal. Also present at the scene was Senior Fire Officer Suna bin Hj Kahar.

On the status of the fire incident, the first fire engine arrived at the scene at 10.04am whereas the fire on the one unit of two-storey semi-concrete residence was fully under control by 10.24am.

The fire incident caused about 70 per cent damage to the house with the width of 60 ft x 40 ft. The whole fire operation ended at 11.10am.

No casualty or injury was reported. Cause or causes of the fire are still under investigation, concluded the statement issued by ‘Pusat Gerakan Operasi Negeri Sarawak’ (Sarawak State Operation Centre).
