School equipped with high-speed internet

KUCHING: Students and teachers of SJK (C) Chung Hua Rantau Panjang will now be able to enjoy high-speed broadband internet connectivity thanks to Reach Ten Communication Sdn Bhd.

Batu Kawa assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian conveyed his appreciation to Reach 10, a company set up by a home-grown local technopreneur, for introducing high-speed broadband services to the school.

“The school will receive Wi-Fi coverage extension via satellite technology and this will allow e-learning and smart live lessons,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday after visiting the school on the same day. 

Dr Sim, who is Minister of Local Government and Housing, added that providing the broadband internet service was done under Reach 10’s corporate social responsibility’s (CSR) programme.

“This (SJKC Rantau Panjang) is Reach 10’s latest CSR initiative after rolling out Reach 10’s Wi-Fi Kamek at seven remote village in Sarawak, namely Nanga Sumpa, Kampung Sibu Laut, Long Busang, Kampung Beradek, Kampung Tiang Api, Kampung Semilang and Long Moh,” he said.

On another note, he said Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Sarawak, and various telco providers will study internet access and poor handphone signals in nine locations in the Batu Kawa area.

He said among nine of the worst areas identified include Jalan Segubang, Jalan Kim Choo Shin, SMK Min Lit Batu Kawa, Taman Putra Park, SJK (C)  Chung Hua Rantau Panjang, Jalan Peng Yuan Selatan, Borneo Happy Farm Moyan, Jalan Sungai Tapang Ulu, and SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang Ulu.
