KUCHING: Malaysia’s legendary Queen of Jazz Datuk Sheila Majid will be performing live at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on August 12 this year.

The event organisers Firm Horizon Sdn Bhd and AL Activators Sdn Bhd said the ‘Sheila Majid Big Band Live in Kota Kinabalu Concert’ will be performing a big band concept featuring 17 talented musicians led by music director Mac Chew.

Firm Horizon managing director Raymond Fang said they received an exceptional response from fans for the concert to be held in the region.

“After considering all the factors and the large number of Sheila Majid fans, we atFirm Horizon is delighted to announce that the ‘Sheila Majid Big Band Live in Kota Kinabalu Concert’ will be brought exclusively to the fans in Borneo, especially in Kota Kinabalu.

“The event, which has received full support from the Sabah Chief Minister’s Office, has been successfully realised due to high demand among fans who missed out on the ‘Sheila Majid Big Band Live in Kuala Lumpur Concert’ on March 18 because tickets sold out,” he said at a media conference at the Hyatt Centric Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, last Friday. Sheila was also present.

Meanwhile, Sheila expressed her gratitude to fans for their support of her music, especially those from Borneo.

“I am grateful that the big band concept was well received by fans in Kuala Lumpur, which attracted the interest of Firm Horizon and AL Activators to bring it to Kota Kinabalu for my fans in Borneo.

“What else can I say except thank you to the fans who never get tired of hearing my songs and enjoying my work?” she said.

She added that a repertoire of her songs like Pengemis Muda and Warna, along with other songs, will receive a fresh touch suitable for the Big Band concept in Kota Kinabalu.
