Sibu and Kapit hospitals cut visiting hours

SIBU: Effective immediately, visiting hours at Sibu Hospital and Kapit Hospital have been shortened to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

A notice dated March 15 was issued by Sibu Hospital director Dr Ngian Hie Ung which allowed only one visitor to visit each patient at a time.

Visiting hours are also shortened from 1pm to 2pm and from 5pm to 7pm, and children under 12 are not allowed to visit patients.

Sibu Hospital also prohibits those suffering from influenza symptoms such as sore throat, cough, colds, fever, vomiting and diarrhoea from visiting the wards.

People with chronic illnesses and individuals with low immunity are also not allowed to visit the hospital except for unavoidable reasons.

Sibu Hospital is one out of four hospitals in the state that is authorised to treat Covid-19 patients in the state.

As for Kapit Hospital, its director Dr Ivan Vun issued the same notice yesterday.

They also banned from the hospital those people who have travelled overseas in the past 14-days.

The notice also called all visitors to go through health screening at the entrance.
