SIBU: Narcotics police arrested a 30-year-old man and seized 32.02 grams of drugs worth RM6,400 from him yesterday (July 25).

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the man was picked up from Jalan Kampung Datu Baru here around 1 pm.

“We found two packets containing crystallised substance suspected to be methamphetamine in him,” he said in a statement today.

Zulkipli said the suspect also tested positive for methamphetamine.

“The suspect was remanded under Sections 39A(2) and 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he added.

If convicted under Section 39A(2), the suspects may face life imprisonment, or a minimum of five years in jail, and not less than 10 strokes of the rotan.

Meanwhile, if convicted under Section 15(1)(a), the suspect may be fined up to RM5,000 or sentenced to jail for a term up to two years or both, and be placed under supervision for two years under Section 38B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
