Six may hang for drug offences

KUCHING: Six persons will face the gallows if convicted for drug dealing.

Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department head Supt Hasnir Abdul Halim confirmed that the six, three males and three females aged between 18 and 44, were caught with 61g of syabu worth RM9,000. Three of them were jobless while two others were labourers and one was a cook.

He said acting on information and intelligence received, police raided a house in Sung Hock, Mile 10, Kuching – Serian Road.

He said during the raid, the three men and three women were found with a small brown bag with ‘C’ in it. There was a black plastic containing a large transparent plastic package with crystals suspected to be syabu.

Initial investigations revealed that all the six persons had a   past record each.

They will be charged under Section 39 B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a mandatory death sentence. They will also be charged under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
