KUCHING: SMK Kuching High yesterday presented excellence awards to around 500 students for their achievements in sports and extracurricular activities.

Additionally, more than 100 teachers and coaches were also given certificates as a token of appreciation for their efforts in helping the students in sports and extracurricular activities.

The guest of honour at the event was Kuching Teochew Association president Vincent Chiew.

In Chiew’s speech, he said he was proud of the SMK Kuching High students who have not only achieved outstanding results in their studies but also did well in sports and extracurricular activities which made them well-rounded individuals.

“I am especially proud that SMK Kuching High have always been able to produce talents in sports and extracurricular activities, representing the school, district or even Sarawak.

“I know it is not easy for the students to be outstanding both in academics and extracurricular activities so my word of encouragement is ‘always do your best, never give up, always work hard and try to improve yourself’,” Chiew told the students while speaking during the ceremony held at SMK Kuching High.
