SIBU: Following the implementation of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) throughout the state effective Monday (Feb 14) until Mar 1, all food courts and hawker centres under the jurisdiction of the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) will be allowed to operate.

MPS chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh said this came after going through the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) for almost a month since Jan 16.

“The eateries allowed to operate tomorrow (Monday) are Taman Selera Harmoni, Taman Selera Muhibbah, Khoo Peng Loong Hawker Centre, Taman Rejang Hawker Centre, Jalan Tiong Hua Hawker Centre, Sungai Antu Hawker Centre, Sungai Merah Hawker Centre, Bandong Walk and Medong Selera Bandong.

“Hours of operation are from 6am to 10pm every day,” he said on Sunday (Feb 14).

However, Ting stressed that the Sibu Central Market would remain closed until Feb 19.

“Sibu Night Market and Sibu Wet Market located at Jalan Indah will also remain closed until further notice,” he added.

Recently, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) announced that the whole of Sarawak would be placed under CMCO from Feb 15 to Mar 1.

The committee has also warned that economic activities such as the opening of daily markets, wholesale markets, farmers markets, night markets and late-night markets are not allowed in red zone districts across the state.
