Note the man’s arm with the spear sticking to it.

BETONG: A man got his right arm punctured by a spear from a speargun while fishing in a river yesterday (Feb 1).

An emergency medical rescue service (EMRS) unit from Betong fire station was sent to help him after being called around 6pm.

At the local hospital, the team confirmed that the victim was injured by his speargun and was being treated at the hospital.

The EMRS unit then proceeded to cut the spear using a hydraulic cutter to shorten it and to make it easier to handle.

The hospital staff takes over the treatment of the fisherman after firefighters had shortened the spear in his arm.
