State civil service wins four gold awards

KUCHING: The Sarawak State Civil Service Innovative and Creative Circle (KIK) teams won four gold awards at the International Convention Quality Control Circle (ICQCC) Tokyo 2019.

The prestigious convention was organised by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) in collaboration with productivity bodies of participating countries which performed the same role as Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC). Held from Sept 21 to 27 at KEIO Plaza Hotel, Tokyo, Japan, it was participated by 370 groups from 16 countries in Asia, Europe and North America.

Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Jaul Samion led the groups from Sarawak that included Do It 3 Team (Sarawak State Treasury Department), The Hummer Team (Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation), Forcescap Team (Miri City Council) and Jagu Team (Sri Aman District Council).

This time around, Sarawak obtained the highest number of achievements.

According to Jaul, he is pleased that the innovative and creative working culture had been practised in the state civil service.

He also urged heads of departments to play an important role in fostering a culture that emphasised innovation and quality in service delivery.

He added the state’s achievements in Japan recently were the results of continuous efforts from the teams and cooperation among the agencies, mainly the State Service Modernisation Unit (UPPN), in ensuring that the culture of innovation and quality continued to be cultivated in the Sarawak civil service.
