State records 424 new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 424 new positive COVID-19 cases today. There were 17 fewer cases compared to 441 cases reported on Tuesday.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily COVID-19 statement, said with this, the state’s tally was now 257,536.

“Of the 424 new cases, 219 were in category 1 (no symptoms) while 196 were in category 2 (mild symptoms).

“There are five cases in category 3 (lung infection), two cases in category 4 (lung infection and requires oxygen), and two cases in category 5 (lung infection and requires ventilator),” the committee said.

On the breakdown of new cases, the SDMC said that Kuching accounted for 142 cases, Sibu  90, Miri 72, Kapit 25, Bintulu 24, Limbang 16, Sarikei 10, Lawas  nine, Samarahan five, Betong and Subis four cases each,  Pakan and  Song three cases each.

“The districts of Serian, Matu, Bukit Mabong, Kanowit and Marudi each recorded two cases while Tanjung Manis, Julau, Bau, Asajaya, Sebauh, Daro and Belaga each recorded one case,” it said.
