KUCHING: The Malaysian Armed Forces ‘Ops Murni’ has provided assistance to the flood victims who were stranded at Kampung Pasir Tengah in Lundu.

Following the heavy downpour on Friday night and Saturday morning, the Malaysian Army deployed 16 army officers, two military boats, and 32 life jackets.

In a statement, the Malaysian Army revealed that the troops and resources were swiftly mobilised to rescue flood victims from 8.30 am until 11 am.

“A total of 49 individuals from 13 families have been successfully rescued and evacuated to the temporary relief centre at SK Pasir Tengah.

“Teams under the 31 Brigade remained on standby to facilitate evacuation efforts and engage in cleanup activities in flood-impacted areas,” the statement added.

Highlighting their commitment to community welfare, the Malaysian Army pledged to undertake secondary tasks as part of ‘Op Murni,’ assisting other public agencies in their endeavours to restore residential areas affected by the floods.
