Student gets RM1,000 for best project paper

SIBU: Liew Jern Ai who is taking up a business management course at University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) here received RM1,000 from Bank Rakyat Sibu branch at a function held at UCTS premises here, yesterday.

The cheque for RM1,000 was handed over by Bank Rakyat Sibu branch manager, Sarif Kadri, witnessed by  Associate Professor Dr Mohd Zainal Munshid Harun.

Liew was rewarded after her final year project paper titled ‘A Study of Selfie Posting Behaviour and E-Wom on Brand Loyalty: A Study in Sarawak’ as a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) student was adjudged as the best project paper.

Speaking at a press conference, Dr Mohd Zainal said the award is an annual event organised by UCTS’ School of Business and Management in collaboration with Bank Rakyat Sibu Branch.

“This award is the result of a collaboration between the School of Business Management and Bank Rakyat Sibu branch since 2015.

“Through this collaboration, Bank Rakyat is sponsoring RM10,000 0ver a period of 10 years which means that every year we will give RM1,000 to a student of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) School of Business and Management who comes up with the best final year project paper,” he explained.

According to Zainal, the objective of the award is to encourage BBA final year student to excel in their study particularly in producing high quality final year project papers.

“We are very grateful that Bank Rakyat is supporting our students particularly from the Business School in producing the best final year project paper.

“So, we hope that these final year project papers will contribute something to the industry, perhaps Bank Rakyat itself for their benefit,” he said.

He was confident that with the strong support UCTS can produce high quality human capital, particularly from its School of Business and Management.
