KUCHING: A delegation from the Sarawak government led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan is now in Los Angeles, United States of America (USA) to study coastal management and development and urban renewal. 

Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development, said the official working visit from July 16 to 22 is for the preparation of guidelines and policies to be implemented in Sarawak.

During the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Consul General of Malaysia in Los Angeles, Anil Fahriza Adenan; Vice Consul Faidzul Shuib; and Malaysian Trade Commission (MATRADE) Los Angeles Commissioner Zuaziezie Zulkefli. 

At the meeting, they discussed the potential relationship between the Sarawak government and the USA in terms of investment opportunities offered in Sarawak to foreign investors. These include timber, mining, petrochemical, and renewable energy sectors. 

Awang Tengah also shared information with the Consul General on the initiative of the state government in making Sarawak a progressive state in 2030 through the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 based on economic structure, business facilities, spending targets, optimising human assets and capital, digital and implementation, social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

Also among the visitors are Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Len Talif Salleh, advisor to Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais and senior officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development Sarawak and Land and Survey Department Sarawak.
