Three local men being arrested for riding their motorcycles dangerously at Jalan Paragon last Sunday.

BINTULU: Traffic police here arrested three locals for riding their motorcycles dangerously and recklessly at Jalan Paragon last Sunday.

The operations, codenamed ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’ and ‘Ops Bersepadu’, were carried out by the Bintulu traffic police division from 7.30pm on Sunday to 2am yesterday.

During the operation, the team spotted three men pulling off dangerous ‘Superman’ stunts on their motorcycles.

All of them were then arrested for the offence.

The motorcycles of all three suspects were confiscated, and they will be investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a jail term of up to five years and a fine of up to RM15,000, if convicted.

In addition, the traffic police also confiscated 10 motorcycles for various offences under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

A total of 75 traffic summonses were issued throughout the operation for various traffic offences such as modified exhaust, modified motorcycle structure, no driving licence, no side mirror and others.

In this regard, Bintulu police encouraged parents to keep an eye on their children’s movements to prevent them from becoming involved in illegal racing or street gangs.
