S’wak records seven new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded another seven positive Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 334 to date.

All the seven cases are being treated in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Kuching.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this during the daily update on Covid-19 yesterday.

He also said as of yesterday, a total of 81 new cases of person under investigation (PUI) were recorded, bringing the total to 2,340.

Of these cases, 1,774 were negative and 232 PUI cases were still pending laboratory results.

He said 53 of the new PUI cases were recorded in Kuching; nine in Samarahan, Miri (seven), Bintulu (six), and one each in Bau, Lundu, Serian, Sarikei, Meradong and Kapit.

On public compliance to the movement control order (MCO), Abdul Karim said it had improved to 97.2 per cent. Three individuals were detained for defying the order and 89 issued compound notices yesterday.
