KUCHING: About 1,000 people gathered at Majma Kompleks Islam Sarawak yesterday to attend the breaking of fast programme organised by the Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS).
The participants, consisting of 616 Tahfiz (Islamic school students) and 120 less unfortunate people (asnaf), were presented with Hari Raya donations under the “Bantuan Sara Hidup” programme.
During the same event, TBS also received zakat (charity) contributions from Celcom Axiata Company totalling RM183, 808.
In his speech, TBS director Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie called on the Islamic community here to be confident of TBS in managing zakat.
Among those present at the event were Celcom Axiata Company chief of quality network Sarawak Ibrahim Kushairi; TBS deputy general manager Sulaiman Mahili; and TBS chief of financial and administration sector Abang Faisal Abang Marzuki.
