DARO: Sixteen foreign plantation workers had a rude awakening when their quarters at Ladang Tutus, caught fire in the wee hours today (April 2).
Upon receiving an emergency call at 1.49am, firemen from Daro had to take a 45km journey to the scene.
By the time they arrived, the flames had already destroyed the seven-unit workers quarters.
The Indonesian plantation workers managed to get out to safety before the fire engulfed their quarters. One of them sustained minor burns to the arm and was taken to Daro Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
