19TH DUN SITTING

HEAD of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud hopes Putrajaya will continue to pay special attention to Sarawak’s development.

He said attention must be given especially to economy and infrastructure development.

“I believe that Sarawak will not be left behind in the development process in line with the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia, which values the prosperity of the state and the wellbeing of the people of Sarawak,” he said in his opening address at the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.

Taib was confident that the socio-economic development of Sarawak would be developed on par with the development in Peninsular Malaysia.

“I am confident that the Sarawak leadership will always strive to maintain good relations with the federal government.

“I would like to express my appreciation and thanks to the federal government for the assistance and support given to the Sarawak government,” he said.

Taib also said that he was grateful that the amendment to the Constitution regarding the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) was approved by the Dewan Rakyat in December 2021.

“This further strengthens Sarawak’s position in the Federation of Malaysia and proves the spirit of unity in Keluarga Malaysia has been established,” he said.
