Team Clutch wins PUBG Mobile game

KUCHING: Team Clutch emerged as champions of the recent SAMArindok PUBG Mobile SARAMEDIA-AKYBMS 2020.

The event, from Sept 25-26, was organised by the Sarawak Malay Cultural Foundation Charitable Trust (AKYBMS).

Members of Team Clutch went home with RM1,000 cash, exclusive trophies and framed certificates after beating 128 teams from all over Sarawak.

A special award was also presented to the team members who were crowned as SAMArindok Players (MVP). It consisted of  RM150 cash, exclusive trophies and framed certificates.

The NakpaKoTokk Team, which came second, received a cash prize of RM700, exclusive trophies and framed certificates.

Meanwhile, members of third placed Boobook MX took home a cash prize of RM500, exclusive trophies and framed certificates.

A team under the same management, Boobook R.A, came fourth in the event. Its members  went home with a consolation prize in the form of RM300 cash and certificates of participation.

Another team, Krek Unknown was crowned as the SAMArindok Squad; its members received a cash prize of RM200, exclusive trophies and framed certificates.

The PUBG Mobile competition also provided consolation prizes to all finalists who competed in the final round.

The top four squads received a cash prize of RM150 and certificates while the next eight teams went home with RM80 cash and certificates.

“Youth who are active in esports should continue to hone their talents to the best of their abilities, improve their skills, develop themselves and gain useful experiences in various multi-level tournaments so that Sarawak can produce world class esports athletes and champions  in the future,” advised Deputy Chief Minister and chairman of the Board of Trustees of AKYBMS, Datuk Amar  Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, in his speech during the  online launch of the event on Sunday (Sept 26).

AKYBMS general manager, Datuk Dr Sanib Said thanked all parties who supported efforts to develop Sarawak youth, especially in   esports.

“Popular online sports games like PUBG should not be seen as mere sports. Their positive elements such as cooperation, patriotism, competitive spirit and creative thinking are very helpful in encouraging proactive thinking among youth,” he added.
