KUCHING: A teenager was nabbed after he was found to be operating as an online gambling top-up agent in an eatery last Sunday (Sept 5).
The arrest was made by a Padawan police task force, led by Batu Kawa police station chief Insp Syahrulhafizy Ghazali, at 6.50pm at Matang Jaya.
Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, who confirmed the case, said the 17-year-old boy was spotted sitting in a corner of the premises.
“The team detained him for inspections as he was believed to be engaged in online gambling.
“Examinations later found a piece of paper with written numbers believed to be IDs and passwords for online gambling,” he said.
As a result, the teenage boy from Petra Jaya was brought back to the police station for further action.
He added that a phone and RM250 cash were also seized from the boy.
Aidil said that the case was being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House 1953.
