KUCHING: Sarawak recorded zero new positive Covid-19 case on Friday, making it three consecutive days of no new cases reported.

As such, the total number of cases in the state remained at 556.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement Friday, said there were also no reports of recoveries and patients discharged from hospitals.

There were, however, nine new cases of person-under-investigation (PUI) reported, with seven still awaiting laboratory results.

As of Friday, eight cases were still undergoing treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Kuching. None of the patients are in intensive care or requiring breathing assistance.

SDMC said 67 more person-under-surveillance (PUS) had checked into hotels on Friday to undergo quarantine.

This brought the total number of PUS at 19 hotels statewide to 1,180 while 15,159 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

Thus far, the pandemic has caused 17 deaths in the state since the first positive case of Covid-19 was reported on March 13.
