Three clusters end; Jalan Puncak Borneo Cluster recorded the highest new cases

KUCHING: The Sarawak Health Department has declared the end of three Covid-19 clusters.

The clusters are Melor Cluster in Pusa, Jalan Main Bazaar Cluster in Sri Aman and the Kiba Cluster in Sibu.

“No new cases were detected from these clusters in the last 28 days,” Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said at the Covid-19 daily update press conference here on Friday (April 16).

He said as of Friday (April 16), there were still 46 active clusters, with a total of 11 recording 449 new cases, while 35 did not record any.

The Jalan Sanyan Cluster in Sibu and Jalan Sultan Iskandar Cluster in Bintulu saw one new case each; the Tembok Sri Aman Cluster in Sri Aman and Jalan Maju Cluster in Sibu; two each; the Jalan Tanjung Kidurong Cluster in Bintulu and Jalan Kapitan Cluster in Marudi; four each.

The Abak Bon Cluster in Subis recorded three new cases; the Bulatan Aman Cluster in Sibu; five, and the Jepak Cluster in Bintulu; eight.

The Jalan Bambangan Cluster in Mukah recorded 99 new cases.

The Jalan Puncak Borneo Cluster in Kuching recorded the highest number of new cases with 320.

On the Covid-19 zone status in the state, Uggah said Bau, Belaga and Selangau districts changed from yellow to orange after recording more than 20 local transmissions in the past 14 days.

“This brings the number of districts with orange status to eight, while the number of yellow districts decreased to 13.”

Fifteen districts remained red while four remained green, he added.
