BAU: Police nabbed three unemployed men for drug abuse last Monday (Apr 5).

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon revealed that the arrests happened around 11.30pm during a patrol around Kampung Segubang.

A team of narcotics police saw three men by the roadside and attempted to inspect them.

“Two of them attempted to run away but our men managed to apprehend them.

“During inspection, the men seized a cigarette packet containing a plastic packet of crystalline lumps believed to be syabu, weighing around 0.30g and valued at RM60,” he said.

The detainees aged 18, 21 and 23 together with the drugs were taken to the police station.

All three men tested positive for drugs and background checks revealed that one of them had a past criminal record.

Poge pointed out that the case will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for using drugs.

Apart from that, one of the suspects will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 12(2) of the same Act for possessing drugs.
