Three labour workers were arrested by the Mukah IPD for alleged drug abuse.

MUKAH: Three labourers, two of them foreigners, were arrested for drug abuse at two separate locations yesterday.

Initial urine screening of the three suspects found them positive for amphetamine.

District Police Chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said two Indonesian men were detained at a hut in a farm around 12.45pm.

“We found five transparent plastic packets each containing crystal lumps suspected to be methamphetamine with a gross weight of 10.55 grammes, valued about RM1,055,” he said in a statement today.

Preliminary investigations found that both suspects had been involved in drug abuse activities since February 2022.

Meanwhile, around 5.30pm at Kampung Tegak Mukah, a team of policemen inspected a 52-year-old local man in a house.

“We found a transparent plastic packet containing crystal lumps suspected to be methamphetamine with a gross weight of 0.46 grams.

“Preliminary investigation found that the suspect was involved in drug abuse since December 2015 and has three previous convictions,” he added.

Investigations are continuing.
