SIBU: People are advised to be wary when receiving an online job offer that promises obscure job opportunities and high returns or commissions.

According to Sibu district police chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili to prevent oneself from falling victim, the public can make check at https:semakmule.rmp.gov.my on the validity of the job offer.

“The public can also call up CCID Response call centre at 03-26101559 or Facebook@cybercrimeAlertRMP@JSJKPDRM on the matter related to commercial crime,” he said in a statement today.

Zulkipli pointed out that 10 people here had been cheated in an online job offer from July to September.

“Our commercial crime investigation department received reports from 10 victims who lost a total of RM91,696 from July to September,” he added.

Zulkipli also said that the modus operandi of the syndicate was to offer online jobs on Shopee and Lazada e-commerce platforms through Whatsapp, Facebook, and Instagram.

“The victim will receive a link before being given a task to buy goods and a rating. They were told that they could receive a high commission for the task.
