Trained workforce crucial to post Covid-19 growth

KUCHING: Sarawak urgently needs a trained workforce to help sustain post Covid-19 development in the state by 2030.

The opening ceremony officiated by the Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg underlined the pressing need at the National Higher Learning Carnival or ‘Jom Masuk IPT’ programme here recently.

He said the trained workforce was needed not only in the state government but public and corporate agencies in the state.

The Premier’s address was delivered by Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn at the event held  at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

Sponsored by Yayasan Sarawak the event held over two days from Feb 19 was organised by the Sarawak branch of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

Students were asked to directly meet with officials from universities, institutions and sponsoring bodies such as Yayasan Sarawak for crucial information before enrolling in higher education.

Many parents and students came to the booth of Yayasan Sarawak to find out about the scholarship programmes and loans available including the ‘Bantuan Awal Kemasukan ke IPT’.
