The drugs believed to be syabu were seized by Padawan narcotics police.

KUCHING: Police arrested three men at Taman Abadi, Batu Kawa here on Monday.

The suspects, all jobless and aged between 19 and 43, were nabbed in front of an unnumbered house at 10.45am.

A search on one of the suspects led to the discovery of a plastic packet containing crystalline substance believed to be syabu.

“The drugs, weighing 5.08g, are valued at RM600.

“All three suspects and the drugs were taken to the Padawan narcotics office for further action,” said Padawan deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong.

A background check revealed that two of the suspects have previous drug-related criminal record. The trio also tested positive for drugs.

Lim noted that one of the suspects admitted to obtaining the drugs from a man known only as ‘Tauke’ via bank-in.

Efforts to identify and locate this ‘Tauke’ as well as the drug supply’s location are in full swing.

The suspects are being remanded until June 12 to facilitate investigation under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
