SIBU: Two eight-foot-long pythons were captured after they found seeking refuge in residential areas in separate incidents.

The first python was caught in Kampung Nangka around 11.40 pm last night (Oct 2) , while the second was caught at Jalan Bruang around 5.45 am this morning (Oct 3).

Civil Defence Force (APM) Sibu district officer Major Wan Mohd Jabir Mohd Badrudin said they deployed seven personnel to the areas after being alerted to the presence of the two snakes.

On arrival, the team found one snake in a woodpile beneath a house in Kampung Nangka, while the other was taking refuge inside a chicken coop at Jalan Bruang.

The reptiles, weighing about 10kg and 5kg respectively, were swiftly captured by the teams using snake tongs and later released back into their original habitat, away from the residential areas.
