A JAIS Enforcement Officer and a member of RC Pujut question a couple during the operation.

MIRI: Two unmarried couples were nabbed for allegedly committing ‘khalwat’ (close proximity) during operation conducted by Sarawak Islamic Affairs Department (JAIS) and Pujut Resident Committee on Saturday night.

The operation conducted in areas around the city involved 28 RC Pujut members and four JAIS Enforcement Officers. The two couples were held for questioning under Section 24 of the Syariah Criminal Offence Ordinance 2001 for committing ‘khalwat’ or close proximity.
